December 27, 2011. Home How-To's

Although we love the holidays, there isn’t much space left for you until after the big day is over. This is a great time of year to really unwind and enjoy the rest of the holiday season without the stresses of shopping, baking, entertaining and cooking (although we do love that stuff too!).
Here are some tips for winding down after a busy month:
Stay in! – Enjoy a movie night, or a nice quiet dinner at home. After all the events throughout the holiday season, it’s a nice treat to eat dinner in your jammies.
Exercise – A leisurely walk on a beautiful winter’s day is a sure way to clear your mind and catch your breath.
Organize your home – Take some time to freshen up your home after the hustle and bustle is over. You’ll find a clean and organized space will help you unwind.
Get back to your routine – It is calming for your mind and spirit to follow a routine, which has probably been disrupted over the past few weeks. Do you go to French lessons on Tuesdays? Have book club meetings on Sundays? Whatever habits you’ve lost over the holiday season, pick up where you left off – you’ll find yourself feeling at ease in your familiar surroundings.
Catch up on sleep – Between the busy days and late nights, you’ve probably missed more than a few valuable hours of shut-eye. Take this time to get back some of that beauty sleep you lost over the past few weeks. You’ll feel refreshed in no time.
Read a good book – There’s nothing like curling up with a great novel in a quiet home. Enjoy the restful feeling you’ll get from the silence, and the joy you’ll experience from a genuine page-turner.
Get take out – Chances are you’ve been doing a lot of cooking and baking – give yourself a break and order in!
Pamper yourself – Take some time just for you to tranquilize, whether it be with a massage or a pedicure.
Hopefully these tips help you recharge your batteries and start 2012 with a great energy!
