Better late than never! Announcing the #MyUrbanBarn winner from July – Kathleen G. of Saskatoon! As the chosen winner Kathleen won a $150 Urban Barn gift card. Don’t forget – we choose a new winner every month! Our August winner will be selected this week. Here’s what Kathleen had to say about herself and her space:

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your space: I am a new mother to a 7 month old baby. I love to decorate and re-style my house. I’m hoping to branch out into that field in the near future. When decorating I try to make stylish while functional choices with having a baby who will soon be crawling then walking. I try to use pieces that can also be moved and relocated to different areas of the house as well.

Describe your decorating style: I would say my style is minimal and modern. I don’t like to have pieces that don’t really serve a purpose. My main living space is small so I try to make sure whatever is in the room will be used or could be used in various situations. I use the ottomans as a coffee table but also extra seating when I have people over. I try to stick to neutrals in regards to paint and furniture. That way if I decide to change or update my living room I can do it using throw pillows and art versus repainting and new furniture.

Tell us about your favourite item and why you love it: My favourite items in my room are my Tribeca sofa because not only is it super comfortable but it’s modern and stylish. I like that a later time I can add the ottomans and make it more of a sectional. The grey colour goes with everything. My other favourite item would be the 4 water color prints I have framed above my couch. They are from Sarah Swanson design on etsy. They are part of her $10 wall gallery art. I like that they are painted so no two will ever be the same and then you can frame them however you want. I like the way they look in my glass frames but I can always move them or change the frames in the future for a quick update.
